I was sitting there. She was sitting there. It was like the day we had first met. What a way to meet someone, by sitting.
It was a vivid memory in amongst many dull gray ones. It's like a light that began my life path to actual meaning. Before, my life was nothing. It meant nothing. All I did was sit at home and complain - which might sound good to some, but if you think about it, all you are doing is taking up space and time, and I felt the need to go out and do something.
And that's the day I walked into the church and seen her there. I wasn't a religious person, not at all, and neither was she, I found out later. I just needed to find my brother, whom was a priest, and she happened to be needing a quiet space to sit and ponder about where her life was headed.
I headed in her direction, and I don't know why. It was a compulsion just to go over and be near her.
We began to talk. She spoke of her life, and how it had no meaning to her as well. I felt this connection grow between us immediatly. I couldn't help but stare into her soft eyes as she spoke, words that sounded like the most finely spun sugar sliding between my ears.
I do believe in love at first sight. That was it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Five months later, I found myself sitting here, thinking. She rested softly against me, all of our waiting for our lives to mean something was ready. I looked down at her in her beautiful white wedding dress, but it wasn't the dress that made her beautiful, it was her. Her, herself, she, whatever you wish to call it.
This was us, and we were ready.
