Hayden

I should start by telling this story with a pre-note. The Greek gods aren't the kind who sit around on Mount Olympus anymore. They've upgraded. Zeus has his own corporation which deals in saving the world, that type of thing. Poseidon's company deals with the sea. Nobody knows where his main office is though. And Hades, well you can just imagine, his is underground still, but along with the others, he has upgraded.
That's where my story comes in. I was a nineteen year old high schooler, two months until I was out of grade school, two months until a summer of which I could do what I wanted before university. At the time, I was an intern in my father's office. Dad works for Hades, in a way. He was the regional manager of this area, anyways. Basically what my dad did was make business deals that made Hades money, which Hades would use to pamper the main company (as well as himself) and when that happened, he would set his harpies and demons after bad people. Zeus loves to collect villains and then give them to Hades. It's a win win situation.
I didn't have anything to do with that part of it though. Dad was one of the corporate jerks, but he wouldn't want me involved with Hades, since alot of the deals were on the blackmarket. I was curious as a cat, but I stayed to my own. Not many people got to deal with Hades himself, you had to goto the Underworld to actually meet with him. Not everyone comes back, either.
Before I go further, I should let you in on some information about myself. My name is Hayden Ross. Only years after this story is finished do I think it's ironic how my name is basically the female version of Hades, yet many angels in stories are named Hayden, and it's very close to haven. And heaven. Quite a load to think about. Onwards. I am fairly short, about five foot two inches, and I have a blonde head. My mom says it's more of a golden dirty blonde, but it's still blonde, and thick. I have nice hair, but the rest of me is plain. I am not much to look at, atleast that's the vibes I get from the boys at school, and somehow that doesn't bother me. I have never had a boyfriend, never even ben kissed, and it doesn't bother me at all. Mom worries about this constantly.
And I guess that's enough, time for the real story. I was sitting in the bathroom at work, eating my sandwich since I hadn't gotten to eat it earlier, and you weren't allowed to eat on the job, when I heard some loud talking from outside in the lobby. With a sigh I stuffed my sandwich into my bag, straightened my shirt out, and shuffled into the lobby. There are some days that I wish I had waited just a few more minutes. But not really.
"Holy -!" I cried out, dropping my bag, which my sandwich started to show. I didn't care, because of that moment I was staring into the face of the Lord of the Underworld himself. Hades didn't seem perturbed by me at all, in fact he merely looked me up and down, before turning back to my father, who was sweating profusely. I swallowed hard and bent down to pick up my bag and sweep the sandwich back in. While I was bent over, I felt someone's eyes on me. Slowly, I turned my eyes up to Hades' face, which to my embarassment, seemed to be laughing at me.
"You have a charming child." He said finally. His voice was deep and held a huge volume of sarcasm in it. I blushed and stood up straight, brushing my hair back from my face before I apologized.
Hades waved it off. "No matter. Begone." he ordered me. When Hades tells you to do something, you should comply, and comply immediately. Which is not what I did. Instead, I stupidly stared at him for nearly a minute more before realizing that he was staring straight back. I shook my head and mumbled my apologies again before hurrying out of there. I could hear his frightening laughter follow me out of the building. I was busy thinking about how scary, yet freakishly hot, the Underworld god had seemed, and wasn't watching where I was going when I tripped on a crack in the pavement and went sailing on to the road, smacking my head on the pavement. I don't know how long I was out of it, but next, and the last thing, I knew was that I was staring into the grill of a double sized rig. The driver didn't see me, and that was how I left this plane of existence.

...And entered the next. When I had woken up, I had found myself in a really bright parlour. I blinked a few times, gazing around at my surroundings. "What the hell?" I asked outloud.
"Not yet. You were out cold during the judging, sorry to say, so you don't get any choice whatsoever where you are going." said a voice to my right. I jumped and spun around, looking at one of the most beautiful people I had ever seen. Except she was definately NOT human. Her hair was platinum blonde and about shoulder-length, and she wore a strapless black dress that was so tight it revealed everything, and ended about halfway to her knees.
"Hi, I'm Lana." She said to me. I nodded to her and managed out a "Hayden." before I passed out again. I think I felt the cold marble of the pristine floor before my face made friends with it. Imagine how my body must have looked now, after being run over, and then passing out.

The next time I woke up, everything was fairly dark. The dark was an almost purple colour. I groaned as I sat up, my head felt like it had been split in two.
"It had." said a cool voice to my left. Blinking while looking up, I recognized Hades immediately. A shiver went down my spine as I noticed how deadly calm his face was, black hair brushed back, black robes falling over a six foot something frame. Swallowing, I pulled myself up onto my feet.
"What happened to me?" I asked, sounding shaky. My eyes didn't want to focus on any one thing in particular, so I just closed them. This way I didn't have to look at Hades, either.
"Well, to put it plainly, you died." Hades said, sounding almost cheerful. "You were hit by a semi-truck, actually. A nice addition to this place." he said, and she could feel him looking her up and down.
I was dead? I'm dead? Dead? No way. Nineteen year old girls don't get hit by trucks. That was impossible. There was no way in hell I -
"Stop thinking that!" Hades interupted my thoughts. "Your NOT in hell. This is the Underworld."
"Same thing." I replied curtly, before throwing my hands to my mouth. Oh no. Not a good idea to back talk a god. Hades didn't seem to care though, he was pacing around the dark room.
I could not wrap my mind around the thought that I was dead. "There has to be a mistake. I cannot have died. No, no, that's impossible." I stuttered, my voice was starting to crack. I held a hand to my nose, eyes starting to water. Looking up, I seen Hades watching me again. "There has to be something. Put me back! You did this!" I accused. "You KNEW I wouldn't be paying attention to what I was doing because I was thinking about you and how you -" I managed to stop myself, and forced myself not to think on his looks.
Hades laughed. "You think I want more people here? Although I admit, I am happy you were thinking of me." all smiles was the Lord. Nice. That didn't help me one bit. In fact, it just made me angry.
"There has to be something, I can't just be dead." I said, sounding unreasonable. Even I realized that. Hades however, put his hands to his chin, and seemed to think on it.
"Well, maybe." He said after a few minutes. I gaped in shock. Never in my lifetime have I heard of someone being sent back from the Underworld.
"What is it? I'll do it, I swear I will." I pleaded, nearly getting on my hands and knees. I did not want to be here. I was missing my mother and father, and it was cold and lonely in the Underworld. Half of me reasoned that Hades was screwing with me.
The Lord of the Underworld smiled. "A favour. I will call for it whenever I wish. You can go free until then. Then you do as I say, may it be even ten years from now. Understand? If you agree, and then fail me, I will bring your entire family in with you." Wow, talk about a threat. I swallowed, and nodded. He wouldn't set it without her being able to comply, would he? Well, she thought, he can do whatever he wants, he's a god. A really good looking one who - No. He can hear you. Shut up right now.
That was my last thought as I blacked out again. I hoped this time I would actually be at home instead of on a cold floor or ground like the last few times.
